Shanghai. President Xi Jinping will deliver a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the China International Import Expo on Nov 5 in Shanghai, the Ministry of Commerce said on Monday.
Government officials, business leaders and heads of relevant international organizations from about 150 countries and regions will participate in the expo, vice-minister of commerce Fu Ziying announced at a press conference as reported by China Daily.
As the world’s first import-themed national exhibition, Fu said the CIIE holds both goods exhibitions and business forums.
A total of 82 countries and three international organizations will participate in the section for country pavilions. China has granted “Guest of Honor” status to 12 countries, including Brazil, Canada, Egypt, Germany, Hungary, Russia and the United Kingdom. Each will set up pavilions that highlight their national distinctiveness.
The forum will inject more growth momentum into economic globalization and show China’s determination to expand and deepen the opening-up policy, and promote an inclusive and win-win situation in global trade, said Fu, who also is China’s international trade representative.
According to exhibitor registration data, as many as 5,000 exhibits entered China for the first time.
Fu said consumers and companies can experience global quality and bargain price products without going abroad, fully enjoy the benefits brought by globalization, better meet the needs of domestic consumption upgrading, and promote the high quality of economic development in China.
