New Delhi. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) refuted the reports in media which are claiming that there are huge protest in Kashmir. According to Reuters report, Thousands protest in Kashmir over new status despite clampdown.

Police used tear gas and pellets to fight back at least 10,000 people protesting Delhi’s withdrawal of special rights for Muslim-majority Jammu and Kashmir state in its main city of Srinagar.

In a statement, an MHA spokesperson said that the reports of protest involving 10,000 people in Srinagar was completely incorrect.

MHA spokesperson said,”There are media reports claiming there was a protest involving 10,000 people in Srinagar. This is completely fabricated and incorrect. There have been a few stray protests in Srinagar/Baramulla and none involved a crowd of more than 20 people.”
