Concern on Congress candidate selection against PM Modi in Varanasi strategic analyst and political commentator Rajeev Sharma tweets, ” No Priyanka Gandhi from Varanasi. Congress ends speculation on Priyanka taking on PM Modi. Instead, Congress names local strongman Ajay Rai as its Varanasi candidate. Rai had contested against Modi in the 2014 election as well and had finished third. It will be a cakewalk for Modi.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to hold a mega roadshow in Varanasi later today, a day before he files his nomination for the Lok Sabha elections.
