SJF condemned on termination of three senior journalists of Shillong Times

SAARC Journalist Forum SJF strongly condemned on the decision of management to terminate three senior journalists from Shillong Times. SJF release a press statement and demand unconditional reinstatement of journalists who are terminated without any justifiable reason.

Press Statement released by SAARC Journalist Forum

Forum stand in solidarity with the three senior journalists—EM Jose (News Editor), Nabamita Mitra (Features Editor) and Dipankar Roy (Executive Editor)— who were terminated from September 1st when they were in quarantine due to COVID 19.

” Forum condemn the management’s decision which we feel is unethical and unjust, and as colleagues, we strongly object to such unwarranted ill-treatment meted out to the three senior members of the staff who have all along put in their best efforts in the interest of the newspaper,” said in a statement.

SJF also supports and stands with the 12 journalists of Shillong Times who are doing protests against management to secure professional rights of journalists. Earlier 12 Journalists of Shillong Times had issued a press statement supporting reinstatement of three senior journalists.
