Tel Aviv. Explosions have been heard across Israel after Iran said it had launched dozens of ballistic missiles towards the country.<\/p>\n
The Israeli military said there were a large number of interceptions and a \u201cfew hits\u201d in central and southern areas, and warned Iran that the attack would have \u201cconsequences\u201d.<\/p>\n
Israeli paramedics said two people had suffered light injuries after being hit by shrapnel in the central Tel Aviv area.<\/p>\n
Iran\u2019s Revolutionary Guards said it launched the missiles in retaliation for recent attacks that killed the leaders of Hezbollah and Hamas, as well as a senior Iranian commander.<\/p>\n
They also threatened that there would be further \u201ccrushing attacks\u201d if Israel responded.<\/p>\n
Iran\u2019s supreme leader had vowed on Saturday that Israel\u2019s killing of Hezbollah ally Hassan Nasrallah would be avenged.<\/p>\n
The missile attack also came hours after Israeli troops began an invasion of southern Lebanon to remove what the Israeli military said were \u201cHezbollah terror targets\u201d in border villages that posed a threat to residents of northern Israel.<\/p>\n
