Kathmandu. SAARC Journalists Forum SJF has condemn on surveillance of journalists all around the world including SAARC region specially in India. Forum condemned by releasing press statement on it.
“An Israeli company has sold a phone spyware to governments to secretly monitor the phones of human rights activists, politicians, journalists and lawyers in various countries around the world, according to media reports. These Pegasus apps had already monitoring 50,000 people in 45 countries,” said in a statement.
SJF further says, “As we know, more than 180 journalists, including CNN, Al Jazeera and the New York Times, are being monitored by Pegasus apps, not only that this app was misused by government of various SAARC countries including India where large numbers of journalists are in surveillance which is undermining the freedom of the press, infringing on journalists right to write.”
“We, the SAARC Journalists Forum, SJF strongly condemn and protest this and we urge respective government of various countries including SAARC region to stop immediately monitoring the general public, including journalists, through Pegasus apps,” said in statement released by SJF President Raju Lama and Secretary General MD Abdur Rahman.
