Reading is one of the most important ways to develop our minds and increase our knowledge. It is not simply about reading words; it is a way to discover new ideas, learn about the experiences of others, and broaden our understanding. With the development of technology, reading is no longer limited to printed books. Today, we can also read electronic books using smartphones and tablets.
Printed books have a special place in the hearts of many readers. The feeling of the pages, the smell of paper, and the experience of turning each page make reading more enjoyable. Printed books can also help readers concentrate because there are no notifications or applications to distract them. The books we keep in our libraries may also remind us of different memories, ideas, and stages of our lives.
On the other hand, electronic reading offers convenience and flexibility. A person can carry a large number of books on a small device and take them anywhere. This makes it possible to read at different times, such as while waiting, during a break, or before going to sleep. Electronic books also provide useful features such as changing the font size, searching for words and phrases, highlighting important passages, and saving notes.
However, electronic reading also has some disadvantages. Looking at a screen for a long time may cause eye strain, while notifications, social media, and other applications can easily distract the reader. Therefore, printed books may be more suitable when we want peace and concentration, while electronic books can be more useful when we need flexibility and easy access.
For this reason, the most important question is not, “Which is better, paper or screen?” Instead, we should ask, “Which one helps us read and continue reading?” We do not have to choose only one. We can read printed books when we want a quiet and enjoyable reading experience, and use electronic books when we want to read anytime and anywhere.
In conclusion, we should make reading a part of our daily lives and not wait for the perfect time to begin. Reading only a few pages every day can gradually become a useful and enjoyable habit. Whether we read from paper or from a screen, the goal remains the same: to keep reading, learning, and gaining knowledge.
