Syed Mushtaq/Jammu Kashmir. On the second anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti  thursday while protesting against the central’s 05 August decision, said that today is a day of mourning for Kashmir.

Jammu Kashmir, Srinagar the PDP chief said that August 5 is a day of mourning for the people of Kashmir while the people here are mourning against the oppression and barbarism that the government has started in 2019.

She alleged that people are being harassed with each passing day and shopkeepers are being forced to open shops on this day so that the government can show that there is normalcy now. “A number of youths have been detained by the police in the last few days and they have been told by police to be released after August 5,” she said.

Mehbooba said that there is oppression going on in Kashmir which we will never admit and  will continue to fight against the decision. “We would condemn it. Our existence will also be established when we all come together against the August 05 decision and let us force the Government of India to resolve the Kashmir issue,” said.

The PDP chief along with party workers also registered a protest at Srinagar against the central government’s August 05  decision when it revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated the erstwhile state into two union territories.

Meanwhile, Mehbooba Mufti in a tweet said that “No words or pictures are enough to depict the pain, torment & upheaval inflicted upon J&K on this black day two years ago. When unbridled oppression is unleashed & gross injustice heaped there is no other choice but to resist to exist,”.

On August 5, 2019, Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced a proposal in Parliament for ending the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and its bifurcation into two Union Territories.
