Dehradun. The Karmabhoomi Foundation Uttarakhand has announce the Justice Keshav Chandra Dhulia Second Memorial Lecture going to held in Dehradun on 24th November 2024. Secretary of Karmabhoomi Foundation Uttarakhand Himanshu Dhuliya informed it by releasing press statement today.
“The Karmabhoomi Foundation Uttarakhand is pleased to announce that the Justice Keshav Chandra Dhulia Second Memorial Lecture will be held in Dehradun on 24th November 2024. This prestigious lecture will be delivered by an eminent jurist, honouring the legacy of Justice Keshav Chandra Dhuli,” said in the press release.
Additionally, the Second Debate Competition will take place on 13th November at the Doon Library and Research Centre, Dehradun. On the same day, an Essay Competition will be held at the Doon Library, Dehradun, and Soban Singh Jeena University, Almora. The competitions are open to law students from universities and colleges across Uttarakhand. The winners will receive Trophies, Medals, and Cash Awards, which will be presented during the Memorial Lecture by the Chief Guest.
“Justice Keshav Chandra Dhulia was born on 13th November 1929 in Village Madanpur, District Pauri Garhwal. His early education took place at Bankandi School near his village. Despite facing challenges due to his father, Pandit Bhairav Dutt Dhuliya, being a renowned freedom fighter, Justice Dhulia’s determination led him to gain admission at a missionary school in Chelusain, thanks to the compassion of the principal, Mr. Peter,” mentioned in press release.
After India’s independence, Justice Dhulia completed his postgraduate studies and pursued a law degree at the Allahabad University, where he associated with notable professors and freedom fighters. He was an active student leader, advocating for key student issues in post-independence India.
Starting his legal practice in Lansdowne, he also supported his father in publishing the weekly newspaper ‘Karmabhoomi’. Later, Justice Dhulia shifted to practice at the Allahabad High Court, where he faced initial struggles but eventually rose to the position of Chief Standing Counsel. He later became the second person from Garhwal to be elevated to the post of Judge at the High Court and the first lawyer from his region to achieve this distinction.
Known for his quick disposal of cases and numerous significant judgments, Justice Dhulia passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on 15th January 1985, leaving behind a legacy of honesty, truth, and a commitment to the upliftment of the underprivileged, stated in the press release.
