Pre-preparation should be done to face the coming disasters : Home Minister Thapa

He said reconstruction work of the houses damaged due to floods and landslides should be taken forward this year

Kathmandu. Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa has said that pre-preparation should be done to face the coming disasters in the coming days.

Speaking at the program organised on the occasion of the 23rd Earthquake Safety Day on Friday, Home Minister Thapa said that pre-preparedness was needed to face the natural calamities in the coming days.

He also said that the government has been formulating necessary structures, policies, acts and plans.

Stating that the wounds of the 2072 BS earthquake have not healed, he informed that the reconstruction work is in the final stage. He said reconstruction work of the houses damaged due to floods and landslides should be taken forward this year.

Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Vidya Sundar Shakya said that KMC wants to reconstruct dilapidated buildings where security forces. He said that talks are being held with the Ministry of Home Affairs to reconstruct dilapidated building where the security forces are staying.

Mayor Shakya also said that the procurement process has been taken forward to arrange fire brigade at the checkpoints of Kathmandu to face the disaster.

Anil Pokharel, Executive Chief of National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority said that the necessary training and capacity building work has been started to increase the capacity of the local government.
