Torkham Border. The border situation between Pakistan and Afghanistan remains tense as Pakistani security forces intensify their military offensive against the Afghan Taliban. Under the newly launched “Operation Ghazab-Lil-Haq,” multiple Taliban posts at the Torkham border were reportedly destroyed today.

Security sources indicate that the operation is a response to recent provocations and is aimed at carrying out “robust and effective actions” against the current Afghan regime’s frontier assets. Heavy artillery and strategic strikes have been reported in the area, causing significant disruptions to trade and movement.

Reacting to the escalation, the SAARC Journalist Forum (SJF) has called for an immediate end to the violence. Raju Lama, President of the SJF, & MD Abdur Rahman Secretary General of the SJF issued a statement expressing deep concern over the humanitarian and regional implications of this conflict. He emphasized that the South Asian region cannot afford another prolonged military engagement and urged both Islamabad and Kabul to return to the negotiating table.

Currently, the Torkham crossing remains closed for all types of traffic, leaving thousands of travelers and cargo vehicles stranded on both sides of the border.
