New York, June 14, 2026 – Brazil and Morocco shared the points in a highly anticipated Group C opener at the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Saturday in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Morocco took the lead through Ismael Saibari before Brazil responded with an equalizer from Vinícius Júnior.

The result was seen as a strong performance by Morocco, who continued to show the form that made them one of the surprise teams of recent World Cups. Brazil improved after a difficult start but struggled to create enough clear chances to secure victory.

Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti acknowledged that his side must improve in the matches ahead, while Morocco will be encouraged by earning a point against one of the tournament favorites.

Group C outlook
Brazil: 1 point
Morocco: 1 point
Scotland defeated Haiti 1–0 in the other Group C match, leaving Scotland top of the group after the opening round.
