Kathmandu | August 1, 2026 (15 Shrawan 2083) — A peace prayer and lamp-lighting ceremony was organized in Kathmandu on Friday by Saptarangi Indreni Society with the objective of promoting world peace and expressing solidarity for an end to the ongoing conflict and unrest in Nepal.
According to the statement released by the organizers, the event featured the lighting of traditional butter lamps, prayers for peace, and the symbolic release of life (Pranidan), reflecting Buddhist values of compassion, non-violence, and harmony.
The organization said the gathering was held with the sacred intention of ending violence, conflict, and misunderstanding in Nepal while encouraging friendship, compassion, love, and peace among all living beings. The message emphasized that lasting peace can only be achieved through mutual respect, tolerance, and social harmony.
Speaking at the conclusion of the ceremony, Society Chairman Manik Lama Gole said the program concluded with a Buddhist dedication of merit (Parinam Puja) followed by a circumambulation (parikrama) of a Buddhist shrine, symbolizing prayers for peace and well-being.
The event comes at a time when various organizations and community leaders in Nepal have been urging restraint, dialogue, and communal harmony following recent tensions in parts of the country. Government officials have also appealed to citizens to maintain peace, reject misinformation, and preserve national unity.
