New Delhi/Dhaka.The SAARC Journalist Forum (SJF) Central Committee extends its profound grief and heartfelt condolences on the passing of the renowned Indian Hindi poet, writer, and academic, Padma Shri Ram Darash Mishra. The centenarian literary giant passed away on Friday October 31, 2025 at the age of 101.
Shri Ram Darash Mishra was a towering figure in modern Hindi literature, known for his deep connection to rural life and his award-winning works, including the poetry collection ‘Main Toh Yahan Hoon’ which earned him the prestigious Saraswati Samman. He was honored with the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian award, for his immense contributions to literature and education.
The SJF Central Committee executive member, Professor Smita Mishra, is the daughter of the late poet. “No words can truly express the sadness. A heartfelt tribute to Ram Darash Mishra ji, a literary icon who crossed a century of life,” stated a representative of the SJF. “We extend our deepest condolences to Pro. Smita Mishra and the entire family during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace.”
The SAARC Journalist Forum (SJF) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the revered Indian Hindi poet, writer, and academic, Padma Shri Ram Darash Mishra, SJF President Raju Lama and Secretary General Abdur Rahman have conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
In a joint statement, the SJF leaders paid tribute to the late literary giant: “The demise of Ram Darash Mishra ji marks the end of an era in Hindi literature. His contributions, spanning over seven decades, have left an indelible mark on the literary landscape of India and the entire SAARC region. We are profoundly saddened by this loss and offer our deepest condolences to his daughter, Professor Smita Mishra (SJF Central Committee Executive Member), and all family members. May his soul find eternal peace.”
