Washington. Donald Trump said on Thursday that he was extending the pause on attacking Iranian energy facilities by 10 days.Trump announced the extension to 6 April on Truth Social.

In a brief post, the US President said: “As per Iranian Government request, please let this statement serve to represent that I am pausing the period of Energy Plant destruction by 10 Days to Monday, April 6, 2026, at 8 P.M., Eastern Time.

“Talks are ongoing and, despite erroneous statements to the contrary by the Fake News Media, and others, they are going very well.”

Trump first announced on Monday that the US was postponing “any and all” military strikes against Iranian energy infrastructure following “very good and productive conversations” about a resolution to the hostilities in the Middle East.

He said on Truth Social at the time: “I am pleased to report that the United States of America, and the country of Iran, have had, over the last two days, very good and productive conversations regarding a complete and total resolution of our hostilities in the Middle East.

“Based on the tenor and tone of these in depth, detailed and constructive conversations, which will continue throughout the week, I have instructed the department of war to postpone any and all military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a five day period, subject to the success of the ongoing meetings and discussions.”

The U-turn came just two days after he threatened to “obliterate” the country’s power plants if it did not reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours.
