Nepal Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal and Sri Lankan Envoy Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties

KATHMANDU – Honorable Minister for Foreign Affairs Shisir Khanal received the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Nepal, Her Excellency Ruwanthi Delpitiya, for a courtesy call at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today.

The meeting focused on the long-standing friendship between the two South Asian nations, with both dignitaries expressing a strong commitment to deepening diplomatic and economic ties.

Key Highlights of the Discussion
Bilateral Relations: Both parties reviewed the current state of Nepal-Sri Lanka relations, emphasizing the need to further solidify the bond through high-level exchanges.

Sectoral Cooperation: The discussions covered a wide range of sectors of mutual interest, including trade, culture, and connectivity.

Regional Collaboration: The leaders touched upon enhancing cooperation within regional frameworks like SAARC and BIMSTEC to promote stability and growth in the region.

“The meeting served as a vital platform to explore new avenues for cooperation and to reaffirm our shared values and interests,” stated a representative from the Ministry.

Looking Ahead
The dialogue concluded with a mutual agreement to continue working closely on issues of common concern, ensuring that the partnership remains dynamic and beneficial for the citizens of both countries. Ambassador Delpitiya thanked Minister Khanal for the warm reception and reiterated Sri Lanka’s desire to expand its collaborative efforts with Nepal.
