Hongkong. The signing ceremony of the Convention on the Establishment of the International Organization for Mediation (IOMed) was held in Hong Kong this morning.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi addressed the ceremony. Thirty-three countries signed the Convention, making them founding members of IOMed. The ceremony was witnessed by high-level representatives from over 50 other countries and nearly 20 international organizations.

As decided through consultation among countries to the negotiation of the Convention, IOMed will be headquartered in Hong Kong.

We look forward to the convention’s early ratification by the signatory states, and welcome more countries to come on board. Hope the IOMed will play a positive role in the peaceful resolution of international disputes.
