Moscow – Regular consultations on the international activities of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and regional security were held in Moscow at the level of deputy foreign ministers of the member states. The event was chaired by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Andrey Rudenko.
The participants discussed the evolving situation in the SCO region in the context of improving the Organisation’s mechanisms for responding to current challenges and threats to security and stability, as well as efforts to form a common vision of an architecture of equal and indivisible security in Eurasia.
They paid special attention to the situation in the Middle East and around Afghanistan. A thorough exchange of views took place on the comprehensive work to improve the SCO’s activities and modernize the Organisation’s treaty and legal framework.
SCO Deputy Secretary-General Ahmad Saidmurodzoda as head of the Secretariat’s delegation presented information to the parties on the work being carried out within the Organisation on issues raised in the consultations’ agenda, and also made a number of proposals concerning further enhancement of the effectiveness of the SCO’s mechanisms.
