Beijing, May 19, 2026 – Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Beijing on Tuesday for a two-day state visit to China, where he is expected to hold high-level talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The visit comes just days after former U.S. President Donald Trump’s trip to China, drawing global attention to the growing strategic partnership between Moscow and Beijing.
During the visit, Putin and Xi are expected to discuss bilateral trade, energy cooperation, regional security, and international issues including the Ukraine conflict and relations with the West.
Reports suggest that major energy projects, including the proposed Power of Siberia 2 gas pipeline, may also be on the agenda.
Ahead of the talks, Putin described Russia-China relations as a “stabilising force” in global affairs, highlighting deepening economic and diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Analysts say the meeting reflects both nations’ efforts to strengthen cooperation amid continuing geopolitical tensions with Western powers.
