Washington, May 20, 2026 – US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will visit India from May 23 to 26 for his first official trip to the country, with ministerial-level Quad meetings and several high-level engagements scheduled in New Delhi. The visit is expected to focus on strengthening India-US cooperation in trade, defence, energy security and Indo-Pacific strategy.
According to the US State Department, Rubio will travel to Kolkata, Agra, Jaipur and New Delhi, where he is expected to meet senior Indian leaders and officials. India will also host the Quad foreign ministers’ meeting involving the United States, India, Japan and Australia.
The Quad talks are expected to discuss regional security, supply-chain resilience, critical minerals and ongoing geopolitical developments, including tensions in West Asia and the Indo-Pacific region. Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is expected to chair the meeting, with participation from Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong and Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi.
The US Embassy in India said it looks forward to welcoming Rubio for “ministerial Quad meetings, high level engagements, and celebrating 250 years of America,” highlighting the growing strategic partnership between Washington and New Delhi.
