Kathmandu. Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire, said that mother tongue journalism will help in the overall development of Nepal. Ghimire said it while National Forum for Newar Journalist handed over the report of the Second International Mother Tongue Journalism Conference.
‘The conference that you have organized with the participation of domestic and foreign journalists has its own importance and specialty. Please give me the conclusions drawn from it. I will also help in the implementation.’ Speaker Ghimire said.
On June 13 and 14, NFNJ had organized the Second International Mother Tongue Journalism Conference with representative participants from Bangladesh, various provinces of India and various provinces of Nepal.
The conference concluded that mother tongue journalism will prove to be a milestone in reaching information to the inner units of the community and making a plan for the appropriate development of mother tongue.
The meeting held at the Speaker’s office in Singha Durbar was attended by the central president of NFNJ Nripendra Lal Shrestha, senior vice-president Sunil Maharjan, general secretary KK Manandhar, and members Purnabhakta Duwal and Bikash Mali.
NFNJ had organized a conference to mark the 100th anniversary of Nepal’s first mother tongue journalist Dharmaditya Dharmacharya. NFNJ has been continuously advocating for the development of inclusive media and mother tongue journalism and the rights of journalists.
