Beijing/May 14 – U.S. President Donald Trump participated in a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Wednesday, opening a high-level summit focused on trade, global security, artificial intelligence, and the ongoing Iran conflict.
The meeting marked the beginning of Trump’s state visit to China, his first since returning to the White House. Both leaders exchanged remarks emphasizing the importance of stability in U.S.-China relations amid rising geopolitical and economic tensions.
Senior U.S. officials and leading American business executives joined the delegation as discussions centered on maintaining a trade truce, expanding economic cooperation, and addressing regional security concerns including Taiwan and the Middle East.
The summit also included ceremonial events, military honors, and expanded bilateral talks expected to continue through the visit. Analysts say while major breakthroughs may remain limited, the meeting signals efforts by both Washington and Beijing to prevent further deterioration in relations between the world’s two largest economies.
