New Delhi, June 3, 2026 — Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Rabi Lamichhane in New Delhi during the Nepali leader’s official visit to India, marking a significant step in strengthening India–Nepal political ties.
Lamichhane’s visit included meetings with senior Indian leaders, including External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and BJP leaders. The meeting with Modi came amid growing diplomatic engagement between the two neighboring countries and follows earlier discussions between the two leaders after the RSP’s election victory in Nepal.
During the talks, both sides are expected to discuss bilateral cooperation, economic partnership, connectivity, and people-to-people relations. India has repeatedly described Nepal as a priority partner under its “Neighbourhood First” policy.
Lamichhane’s India visit has drawn considerable attention in both Kathmandu and New Delhi, as he is the first senior leader from Nepal’s ruling coalition to undertake a high-level visit to India since the formation of the new government.
The meeting is being viewed as an important opportunity to further deepen the longstanding friendship and multifaceted partnership between India and Nepal.
