Washington, D.C. — U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has announced that the United States has concluded the offensive phase of “Operation Epic Fury,” saying the mission achieved its primary objectives, while warning that U.S. forces remain ready to act again if necessary.
Rubio confirmed that “Operation Epic Fury is concluded” after months of military action involving strikes on Iran-linked targets.
He emphasized the U.S. is not seeking further escalation, but prefers diplomacy and a negotiated outcome.
Despite the end of the offensive phase, U.S. forces remain on standby, prepared to resume combat if attacked or if threats re-emerge.
The U.S. has transitioned to a new, smaller mission called “Project Freedom,” focused on protecting shipping routes—especially in the Strait of Hormuz. Officials describe this as a defensive operation, not a continuation of large-scale combat.
Tensions remain high, with sporadic attacks and instability in the region despite a fragile ceasefire. Thousands of civilians and commercial vessels are still affected by disruptions in key maritime routes.
The U.S. has formally ended the main combat phase of Operation Epic Fury, but the situation remains volatile. While Washington is signaling a move toward diplomacy, it is also keeping military options open, making clear that fighting could resume if conditions worsen.
